In June 2011, Peterborough in Canada re-examined policy regarding the placement of cellphone towers in the city. According to Dr Havas, an associate professor at Trent University who has done research on the health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic energy, “the city’s policy of discouraging cellphone towers from being built within 120 metres of residential areas doesn’t go far enough to protect residents’ health. People are going to become ill if antennas are placed that close to population. The safe distance is probably in the order of 300 to 400 metres.” This video from 2008 explains furthers.
