Does the WHO’s 2B classification apply to cellphone towers?

In May 2011, the World Health Organisation reclassified radio frequency radiation as a Class 2B carcinogen. According to Dr Jonathan Samet, Chairman of the Working Group for the WHO/International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), “the evidence, while still accumulating, is strong enough to support a conclusion and the 2B classification. The conclusion means that there could be some risk, and therefore we need to keep a close watch for a link between cell phones and cancer risk.

When asked whether the classification would include cellphone towers as a possible risk as well, Dr Samet replied, “The designation of Group 2B is radio frequency electromagnetic fields that is unspecified as to source so the Group 2B classification would have broad applicability to sources with this type of emission.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4E2i5XFX9M

Dr Samet clarified further for reporter Kristy Kirkup, “The classification covers radio frequency electromagnetic radiation, which would include wireless.” Which incorporates “Wi-Fi, wireless baby monitors, wireless smart meters, cell phone antennas, broadcast antennas, radar antennas, weather antennas, satellite communications, and other wireless devices that use radio frequency radiation to transmit information,” according to Dr Havas, a professor and researcher at Trent University.
